ViewerCon 2026: a weekend of creators, filmmakers, and community builders

My ViewerCon recap
ViewerCon started the night before with a pleasant and scenic drive from Boston to Newark, New Jersey. I immediately checked into my hotel, made sure all my batteries were charged and cameras were working, and got my zzz's before the big day ahead. The following morning, I headed straight over to the NJPAC, and the moment my pinky toe hit the doorway, I can only describe it as the heaviest rainfall I had seen in a very long time. I didn't pack my flatiron, so I had to quickly scuffle in. I managed to check in, get my media pass, and off I went.
It was so great to be in community with a room full of creatives, especially Black and brown creatives, from those well-seasoned in their careers to those just starting out. ViewerCon felt like a welcoming space for all.
We moved through the mainstage and the "Standing on Business" room, with an overflow of vendors in the center spanning fashion, beauty, and much more. Between it all, we heard from the cast of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Joy Reid, Taye Diggs, Bevy Smith, and more. ViewerCon really does explore the stories, people, and moments shaping today's entertainment landscape. The experience culminated with the first fan screening of Fightland, the highly anticipated new STARZ drama from executive producer Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson.
